43 Search of register
(1) A person may apply to the registrar-general for a search of the register
for an entry about a particular registrable event.
(2) The registrar-general may search the register for the entry if satisfied
(a) the applicant has an adequate reason for wanting the
information; and
(b) the giving of the information is in accordance with the statement
of policies under section 46.
(3) In deciding whether an applicant has an adequate reason, the
registrar-general must have regard to—
(a) the matters mentioned in section 42 (5); and
(b) the relationship (if any) between the applicant and the person to
whom the information relates; and
(c) the age of the entry; and
(d) the contents of the entry.
(4) The registrar-general may also have regard to any other relevant
consideration.
