25 Scheme to provide further exemptions from requirement to have ballast water management plan and certificate

(1) This section applies for the purposes of section 285B of the Act. (2) An application may be made by the owner of a vessel for the Director of Biosecurity to grant an exemption to the vessel from the requirement in subsection 285A(1) or (2) of the Act. (3) The Director of Biosecurity may, by written notice given to the applicant: (a) grant the exemption; or (b) grant the exemption, subject to conditions; or (c) refuse to grant the exemption.
