301  Power to require owner of vessel to provide ballast water records  (1) A biosecurity officer may require the owner of a vessel to produce to the officer any record required to be retained under section 294, or a copy of such a record certified by or on behalf of the owner. Note: A person may commit an offence or contravene a civil penalty provision if the person provides false or misleading documents (see section 137.2 of the Criminal Code and section 533 of this Act).  (a) may make copies of, or take extracts from, a record produced under subsection (1); and  (b) for that purpose, may remove the record from the place at which it was produced.  (3) A person who is required to produce a record, or a copy of a record, under subsection (1) must comply with the requirement as soon as reasonably practicable.  (a) the person is required to produce a record, or a copy of a record, under subsection (1); and  (b) the person fails to comply with the requirement as soon as reasonably practicable.
