169  Process for conducting a BIRA  (1) A BIRA must be conducted:  (a) in accordance with a process prescribed in the regulations; and  (b) taking into account the matters set out in the guidelines (if any) made by the Director of Biosecurity under subsection (2).  (2) The Director of Biosecurity may, in writing, make guidelines setting out matters to be taken into account in conducting a BIRA.  (3) Guidelines made under subsection (2) must be published on the Agriculture Department’s website.  (4) Guidelines made under subsection (2) are not legislative instruments.  (5) For the purpose of conducting a BIRA in relation to goods, or a class of goods, the Director of Biosecurity may request the Director‑General of the CDC to prepare a statement of the human health risks associated with the goods or the class of goods.
