Plain English Summary
3/10 complexity
These regulations set the administrative rules for sinking vessels under the Beaches, Fishing Grounds and Sea Routes Protection Act 1932–1966: they repeal earlier rules, prescribe 15 specific sea areas where sinking may be authorised, name the Secretary to the Department of Shipping and Transport as the prescribed officer, and fix three standard forms (application, notification and report).
Who is affected: vessel owners or operators seeking to sink a vessel must apply to the Minister or delegate and, if permission is granted, follow the notification and reporting requirements (regs 2, 4–8; Schedules).
Zoe can write the in-depth analysis on top of the summary above: how it works, who it affects and what each part actually does.
