Commonwealth legislation
This Act has been repealed and is no longer in force. It is retained for historical reference.
This instrument sets catch limits (called 'total allowable catch') for scallop fishing in the Bass Strait Central Zone.
What it does:
Who it affects: Commercial fishers licensed to operate in the Bass Strait Central Zone Scallop Fishery.
Why it matters: These quotas prevent overfishing by ensuring the total harvest does not exceed sustainable levels. Once the collective catch hits these limits, fishing for these species must cease for the season.
