Commonwealth legislation
This Act has been repealed and is no longer in force. It is retained for historical reference.
This Direction temporarily bans all commercial scallop fishing in the Bass Strait Central Zone Scallop Fishery, taking effect the day after registration and running until 31 January 2012 (unless ended sooner). It applies to concession holders and those acting for them, but not to scientific permits, state/territory fisheries, or other Commonwealth plans. The closure protects scallop stocks; breaching it risks loss of the fishing concession.
