Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This document is the official 'start button' for new airport security screening rules.

What it does:

Sets 27 November 2012 as the date when Schedule 1 of the Aviation Transport Security Amendment (Screening) Act 2012 comes into force (becomes active law)
This activates new or updated security screening procedures at Australian airports

Who it affects:

Airport operators and security screening contractors
Airlines and air travelers
Anyone required to pass through security screening at Australian airports

Why it matters: Parliament had already passed the new screening rules, but they needed this formal proclamation to actually take effect. This document tells everyone exactly when the new security requirements begin — essentially switching them on.
