Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This document is a formal commencement proclamation — essentially an official "on switch" for part of an existing law.

What it does: It activates Schedule 1 of the Aviation Legislation Amendment (Liability and Insurance) Act 2012 on 31 March 2013.

Why this matters: When Parliament passes laws, they often don't take effect immediately. This proclamation fixes the exact date when the aviation liability and insurance changes in Schedule 1 become legally enforceable. Without this document, those rules would remain inactive.

Who issues it: The Governor-General (acting on ministerial advice) has the power to set this date under the original 2012 Act.
