Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This is a formal proclamation (official announcement) by the Governor-General that switches on specific parts of the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority Amendment Act 2013.

What it does:

Sets the start date: It declares that Schedules 1, 2, and 3 of the Amendment Act will become law on 1 August 2013.
Legal effect: Until this document was signed, those parts of the Act were dormant (passed by Parliament but inactive). This proclamation "commences" them, meaning the new rules take effect on that date.

Why it matters: This is a technical but essential step in the legislative process. It ensures athletes, sporting bodies, and the anti-doping authority knew exactly when the updated doping rules and investigation powers began to apply.
