Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: A formal proclamation (legal notice) by the Governor-General setting the date when part of the Australian River Co. Limited Act 2015 comes into force.

What it does: It fixes 24 April 2015 as the start date for Schedule 1 of the Act. This means the provisions in that Schedule become legally effective on that day.

Who it affects: Primarily Australian River Co. Limited — the government-owned company established or restructured by the parent Act. It also affects anyone dealing with that company, as it determines when the new legal rules apply.

Why it matters: Australian laws often require a formal 'starter's gun' (proclamation) before they actually take effect. Without this document, Schedule 1 of the Act would remain inactive 'on the shelf', even though Parliament had passed it.
