#### 21 Membership of the Council (1) The Council consists of the following members: (a) the CEO; (b) 2 radiation control officers; (c) a person to represent the interests of the general public; (ca) a person nominated by the Chief Minister of the Northern Territory; (d) up to 8 other members. (2) Each member, other than the CEO, is to be appointed by the Minister by written instrument. (3) Before appointing a member, the Minister must consult the CEO in relation to the appointment. (4) Before appointing a member, the Minister must consult such consumer groups and such environmental groups as the Minister considers appropriate. (5) The Minister must not appoint a person as a member unless the Minister is satisfied that the person has expertise relevant to, or knowledge of, radiation protection or nuclear safety. (6) The Minister must appoint a member to be the Chair of the Council. (7) Each member, including the Chair, holds office on a part‑time basis.
