Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Order removes a previous ban on exporting live cattle and other livestock from Australia to Indonesia.

What it does This instrument repeals (cancels) an earlier 2011 Order that had temporarily stopped live exports to Indonesia over animal welfare concerns. By doing so, it allows Australian livestock exporters to resume sending animals to Indonesia under the standard export rules that applied before the ban.

Who it affects

Livestock exporters who ship cattle and other animals to Indonesia
The Australian cattle industry, including farmers and supply chain businesses
Indonesian importers who rely on Australian livestock

Why it matters This ended the controversial temporary suspension of the live cattle trade with Indonesia, which had been a major market for Australian beef cattle. It restored the ability to export to Indonesia without needing the special exemptions or permits that were required during the ban period.
