Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this is: A short ministerial declaration made under the Australian Meat and Live-stock Industry Act 1997 (the Act).

What it does: It declares Australian Livestock Export Corporation Limited to be an "approved donor" under the Act, effective from 7 July 1998.

Why this matters:

The Act establishes a system where industry participants (like cattle producers and livestock exporters) pay mandatory levies (fees).
Only organisations declared as "approved donors" can legally receive these levy funds, which are typically used for industry research, marketing, or animal welfare programs.
This declaration formally recognises the Australian Livestock Export Corporation as an eligible recipient, allowing it to receive statutory funding for activities related to the live export trade.
Without this instrument, the corporation could not access money through the Act's levy distribution system.
