Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This statute gives the Australian Maritime College Council the legal power to create rules about who can enroll in courses or sit exams at the College.

What it does:

Section 1 simply names the law the "Admission Statute".
Section 2 authorises the College Council to set admission requirements (like entry criteria, prerequisites, or application procedures) provided these rules don't conflict with the main Act or other Statutes.

Who it affects:

Prospective students applying to the Australian Maritime College
The College Council (which makes the actual admission rules)
Academic staff who administer admissions

Why it matters: Without this statute, the Council might not have clear authority to set entry standards or select students. This law provides the legal foundation for all admission policies at the College, ensuring the process is properly governed rather than arbitrary.
