#### 14 Appointment Appointment of the Australian Information Commissioner (1) The Australian Information Commissioner is to be appointed by the Governor‑General by written instrument. > Note: The Australian Information Commissioner is referred to in this and other Acts as the Information Commissioner (see sections 3 and 3A). Appointment of the Freedom of Information Commissioner (2) The Freedom of Information Commissioner is to be appointed by the Governor‑General by written instrument. (3) A person may only be appointed as the Freedom of Information Commissioner if he or she has obtained a degree from a university, or an educational qualification of a similar standing, after studies in the field of law. Appointment of the Privacy Commissioner (4) The Privacy Commissioner is to be appointed by the Governor‑General by written instrument. > Note: The information officers are all eligible for reappointment: see section 33AA of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901.
