#### 10 Resignation to contest election (1) An AFP employee may resign from the AFP to become a candidate at an election of a member or members of: (a) the Parliament of the Commonwealth or a State; or (b) the Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory or of the Northern Territory. (2) However, the employee may not resign for that purpose earlier than the date of issue of the writ for the election or later than the date on which the nominations for the election close. (3) The employee must give the Commissioner, no later than 2 weeks before he or she proposes to resign, notice in writing specifying the day on which he or she proposes to resign.
