16 Definition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student
For the purposes of the definition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student in section 6 of the Act, a student is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student if: (a) either or both of the following apply: (i) the student is of Aboriginal descent; (ii) the student is of Torres Strait Islander descent; and (b) the student identifies as a person of that descent; and (c) the student is accepted by the community in which the student lives as being of that descent.
