28 Policing support by Australian Federal Police to be by agreement1
(1) The Director-General, on behalf of the ACIC, and the AFP2
Commissioner, on behalf of the Australian Federal Police, must3
enter into a written agreement in relation to the provision of4
policing support by the Australian Federal Police to the ACIC for5
the purposes of assisting or cooperating with the ACIC in the6
performance of the ACIC’s functions.7
(2) Any policing support provided by the Australian Federal Police to8
the ACIC for the purposes mentioned in subsection (1) must be9
provided in accordance with the agreement mentioned in that10
subsection.11
(3) To avoid doubt:12
(a) an agreement under subsection (1) in relation to the policing13
support must be in force before the policing support is14
provided; and15
(b) this section does not otherwise limit the ACIC’s power to16
cooperate with the Australian Federal Police or another law17
enforcement agency for the purposes of paragraph 27(1)(b).18
