35 Control of the ACIC16 The ACIC is under the control of the Director-General.17 36 Independence of Director-General18 Subject to this Act and any other laws of the Commonwealth, the19 Director-General:20 (a) has complete discretion in the performance of the21 Director-General’s functions, and the exercise of the22 Director-General’s powers, under this Act; and23 (b) is not subject to direction by any person in relation to the24 performance of those functions or the exercise of those25 powers.26 Note: The Minister may give directions to the Director-General in limited27 circumstances: see section 37.28 The Director-General of the ACIC Division 3 No. , 2026 Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission Bill 2026 43
