34 Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission Bill 2026 No. , 2026
(a) to obtain, correlate, analyse and evaluate intelligence relevant1
to serious and organised crime;2
(b) for purposes connected with combatting serious and3
organised crime—to communicate intelligence relevant to4
serious and organised crime to such persons, and in such5
manner, as are appropriate to those purposes;6
(c) for purposes connected with combatting serious and7
organised crime—to obtain, correlate, analyse and evaluate8
intelligence relevant to, and provide advice to any person or9
body about, any of the following:10
(i) strategic or emerging crime trends;11
(ii) criminal activity;12
(iii) preventing crime;13
(d) to correlate, provide access to and facilitate the exchange of14
national policing information, and to provide systems and15
services for those purposes;16
(e) to provide nationally coordinated criminal history check17
services, and to regulate persons and bodies in relation to18
such services;19
(f) to make and give criminal intelligence assessments in20
accordance with Part 7;21
(g) to cooperate with and assist persons and bodies referred to in22
section 29 in accordance with that section;23
(h) such other functions as are conferred on the ACIC by other24
provisions of this Act or by any other Act;25
(i) to do anything incidental or conducive to the performance of26
any of the above functions.27
