263 Persons assisting the ACIC21
(1) The ACIC may be assisted by:22
(a) officers and employees of Commonwealth bodies, or of the23
Australian Federal Police, whose services are made available24
to the ACIC in connection with the performance of any of the25
ACIC’s functions or the exercise of any of the ACIC’s26
powers; and27
(b) persons whose services are made available under28
arrangements made under subsection (2).29

(2) The Director-General may, on behalf of the Commonwealth, make1
an arrangement with the appropriate authority or officer of:2
(a) a State or Territory government; or3
(b) a State or Territory government authority;4
under which the government or authority makes officers or5
employees available to the ACIC to perform services in connection6
with the performance of any of the ACIC’s functions.7
(3) An arrangement under subsection (2) may provide for the8
Commonwealth to reimburse a State or Territory with respect to9
the services of a person to whom the arrangement relates.10
(4) When performing services for the ACIC under this section, a11
person is subject to the directions of the Director-General.12
(5) To avoid doubt, a constable assisting the ACIC continues to have,13
and may exercise, all their functions, powers and duties as such a14
constable.15
