Services Special Account15
There must be credited to the National Policing Information16
Systems and Services Special Account amounts equal to the17
following:18
(a) amounts paid to the ACIC by way of charge imposed by the19
Charges Act;20
(b) amounts received by way of fees referred to in section 31;21
(c) any other amounts received by the ACIC in connection with22
the performance of its national policing information23
functions.24
Note: An Appropriation Act may contain a provision to the effect that, if any25
of the purposes of a special account is a purpose that is covered by an26
item in the Appropriation Act (whether or not the item expressly27
refers to the special account), then amounts may be debited against the28
appropriation for that item and credited to that special account.29

206 Purposes of the National Policing Information Systems and1
Services Special Account2
Each of the following is a purpose of the National Policing3
Information Systems and Services Special Account:4
(a) paying for scoping, developing, procuring, implementing and5
operating information technology systems and services in6
connection with the ACIC’s national policing information7
functions;8
(b) paying or discharging the costs, expenses and other9
obligations incurred by the Commonwealth in the10
performance of the ACIC’s national policing information11
functions;12
(c) paying any remuneration and allowances payable to any13
person under this Act in relation to the national policing14
information functions;15
(d) repaying to a State, the Australian Capital Territory or the16
Northern Territory, all or part of an amount received by the17
ACIC under section 31 in connection with the performance18
of the ACIC’s national policing information functions, if it is19
not required for a purpose for which it was paid;20
(e) paying refunds in accordance with section 32;21
(f) reducing the balance of the Account (and therefore the22
available appropriation for the Account) without making a23
real or notional payment.24
