184 Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission Bill 2026 No. , 2026
Total period warrant may be in force1
(6) If the variation extends, or further extends, the period for which the2
warrant is in force, the warrant as varied must cease to be in force3
before:4
(a) in the case of a premises search warrant—the end of the5
period of 90 days beginning on the day after the day the6
warrant comes into force; or7
(b) in the case of a person search warrant—the end of the period8
of 28 days beginning on the day after the day the warrant9
comes into force.10
Notice and record of decision11
(7) As soon as practicable after making a decision on the request for12
the variation, the Attorney-General must:13
(a) if the Attorney-General decides to issue the variation:14
(i) cause the Director-General to be informed of the15
issuance of the variation; and16
(ii) cause the variation to be given to the Director-General;17
and18
(b) record the decision in writing; and19
(c) cause the record to be given to the Director-General.20
Warrant may be varied more than once21
(8) A warrant may be varied more than once under this section.22
