183 Contributing information3
(1) A person or body who provides national policing information must4
ensure that:5
(a) the information was obtained lawfully; and6
(b) providing the information is lawful; and7
(c) any restrictions or conditions on access to, or use of, the8
information are communicated to the ACIC as the9
administrator of the national policing information system.10
(2) A person or body who provides national policing information is the11
contributor of the information.12
(3) To avoid doubt, the ACIC may be a contributor of national13
policing information.14
184 Accessing the national policing information system15
(1) The Director-General may authorise a person or body to access the16
national policing information system (or a part of the system).17
(2) The authorisation:18
(a) must be in writing; and19
(b) may specify the period for which it is in force; and20
(c) may be granted subject to conditions specified in the21
authorisation.22
Meaning of user23
(3) A person or body who accesses national policing information24
through the national policing information system is a user of the25
information.26
(4) To avoid doubt, the ACIC may be a user of national policing27
information.28
(5) However, the ACIC is not a user of national policing information29
to the extent that the ACIC accesses the information in the exercise30
