173 Director-General to give notice about use of force17
The Director-General must, as soon as practicable after force is18
used against a person in the execution of a premises search19
warrant, cause written notice of that fact to be given to the20
Attorney-General and the Inspector-General of Intelligence and21
Security.22

174 Director-General may request assistance orders2
(1) The Director-General may request the Attorney-General to make3
an order requiring a specified person to provide information or4
assistance as referred to in section 176 in respect of a computer or5
a data storage device that:6
(a) is found during the execution of a premises search warrant;7
or8
(b) is found during the execution of a person search warrant; or9
(c) has been moved under subsection 163(1) and is at a place for10
examination or processing; or11
(d) has been seized under this Part.12
(2) A request may be made:13
(a) orally; or14
(b) in writing.15
(3) If the request is made orally, the Director-General must:16
(a) make a written record of the request; and17
(b) do so within 48 hours after the request was made.18
(4) The request (the current request) must include the particulars and19
outcomes of all previous requests (if any) under subsection (1) for20
the making of an assistance order relating to the person specified in21
the current request.22
