139 When a CIO authority is in force14 (1) For the purposes of paragraph 138(1)(d) (specifying when a CIO15 authority comes into force), the CIO authority may specify that the16 authority comes into force:17 (a) at the beginning of a specified day after the day the authority18 is granted; or19 (b) at the time the authority is granted.20 (2) The CIO authority ceases to be in force:21 (a) unless paragraph (b) applies—at the time specified in the22 authority in accordance with paragraph 138(1)(e) (subject to23 any variation in accordance with this Part); and24 (b) if the authority is cancelled under section 140—at the time25 specified in the cancellation.26
