What this document does

This is a commencement instrument — a short, formal notice that switches on specific parts of another law on a specific date.

The Minister for Justice and Customs has used his powers under the Australian Crime Commission Amendment Regulations 2006 (No. 1) to declare that Schedules 2, 4, and 5 of those Regulations will take effect on 1 July 2006.

Important limitation: This document does not tell you what the actual changes are. It only sets the timer for when they start being law. To know what Schedules 2, 4, and 5 actually say, you would need to read the Amendment Regulations themselves.

Why this matters Laws often don't apply immediately when they are made. Someone (usually a Minister) must formally "commence" them. This instrument is that formal trigger for three specific parts of the Crime Commission regulations.
