Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This instrument retroactively authorised Members of the NSW Legislative Assembly to conduct Australian citizenship ceremonies and receive the pledge of commitment on 20 March 2022. It affects state MPs who officiated and the people who took the pledge that day, validating those ceremonies so the new citizens’ status is legally secure. Without it, those one-day events risked being legally ineffective.
