Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

What this does: This Standard defines "native bee honey" as the product of Australian stingless bees (genera Tetragonula or Austroplebeia) and sets mandatory composition limits for any food sold under that name: at least 50% reducing sugars, no more than 28% moisture and at least 2% trehalulose.

Who it affects and why it matters: Producers, packers and retailers must ensure their product meets these chemical thresholds and use the prescribed name together with an explanatory description when labelling; the Standard takes effect on gazettal.
