Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This regulation removes (repeals) the Atomic Energy Regulations 1974 from the statute books.

Key points:

It does not create new rules, penalties, or requirements
It simply cancels the older regulations made in 1974
This is a "housekeeping" measure to prevent outdated rules from remaining in force

Who it affects: Businesses and government agencies dealing with uranium mining, nuclear research, or atomic energy would have followed the 1974 regulations until this repeal took effect. After this repeal, they would operate under any new regulations that replaced these, or under the main Atomic Energy Act 1953 directly.

Why it matters: Old regulations must be formally abolished to avoid legal confusion. Without this repeal, someone might accidentally follow the 1974 rules instead of current ones, or face uncertainty about which standards apply.
