17 Approval to apply for amalgamation (1) Two or more incorporated associations may by special resolution of each association approve— (a) the incorporation of the associations under this Act as an amalgamated association; and (b) the name of the proposed amalgamated association; and (c) the rules of the proposed amalgamated association; and (d) the persons who are to be the members of the first committee of the proposed amalgamated association. (2) If two or more incorporated associations approve the incorporation of the associations as an amalgamated association, a person must be nominated as the first secretary of the proposed amalgamated association. (3) The person nominated as the first secretary must be at least 18 years of age and resident in Australia.
