Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This instrument revokes (cancels) an older ASIC class order—CO 98/55—from 1998.

What it does

Cancels ASIC Class Order [CO 98/55], which previously provided regulatory relief, exemptions, or modifications to the Corporations Act 2001
Once revoked, any special permissions or exceptions granted by the 1998 order cease to apply

Who it affects

Companies, financial services providers, or other entities that were relying on CO 98/55 to comply with the law (for example, by using an exemption from certain disclosure or licensing requirements)
These entities must review their compliance arrangements to ensure they meet current legal requirements without relying on the revoked order

Why it matters

Removes outdated regulatory relief that may no longer be appropriate
Ensures affected parties comply with the current version of the Corporations Act 2001
Prevents entities from accidentally relying on expired or superseded exemptions
