Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This is the Environment Minister’s formal approval of the 2014–2024 management plan for Australia’s South‑West Commonwealth marine reserves, giving legal force to the rules that govern what activities are allowed or prohibited in the network. Without this approval the reserves would lack clear legal guidance on balancing conservation with commercial use.

It affects commercial and recreational fishers, oil and gas companies, tourism operators, conservation groups, and Traditional Owners with sea‑country interests.
