This budget Act authorises £8,640,000 from the Consolidated Revenue Fund for buildings, infrastructure and capital works in 1945–46. It funds construction and fittings for government departments, capital investment in government business undertakings (notably the Postmaster‑General’s operations and Commonwealth Railways), and development in the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory.
It is routine annual legislation: without it the government lacks legal authority to pay for these new buildings, equipment and infrastructure projects.

An Act to grant and apply out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund a sum for the service of the year ending the thirtieth day of June, One thousand nine hundred and forty-six, for the purposes of Additions, New Works, Buildings, &c., and to appropriate that sum.
