This Act authorises the Treasurer to withdraw £1,257,617 from the Consolidated Revenue Fund for the year ending 30 June 1918 and appropriates that money for specific additions, new works and buildings listed in the Schedule across Commonwealth departments (Works & Railways; Postmaster‑General; Defence; Navy; Treasury; Home & Territories). Parliament fixes the allocations in the Schedule; the Treasurer is empowered to issue the funds. The law matters because it legally permits capital spending, directs which departments may spend public money and creates binding budgetary claims for that financial year.
