Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This Statute provides the legal foundation for how Colleges at The Australian National University (ANU) are governed.

Key points:

Defines Colleges: Lists the seven academic Colleges at ANU (Arts and Social Sciences; Asia and the Pacific; Business and Economics; Engineering and Computer Science; Law; Medicine, Biology and Environment; and Physical and Mathematical Sciences).
Empowers the Council: Allows the University Council to create detailed Rules about College governance.
Focus on Deans: Specifically authorizes Rules about:
- How College Deans are appointed
- How Deans can delegate their powers and duties to other College staff

In essence, this is the enabling framework that lets the University's governing body set the specific management rules for its academic faculties.
