sch.5-sec.14 Loading density of emus, ostriches and poultry
This section applies to a person loading emus, ostriches or poultry into containers for loading onto a vehicle. The person must ensure— the containers— are loaded onto, or unloaded from, the vehicle carefully and without being dropped or thrown; and are placed on the vehicle in an upright position without excessive tilting; and are attached securely to the vehicle; and are suitable for the species or class of bird being transported; and the loading density of the birds in the containers minimises the risk of harm to the birds. For subsection (2) (b) , the following matters must be considered in deciding whether the loading density of the birds in the containers minimises the risk of harm to the birds— the species, class and size of the birds; the body condition and density of feathers of the birds; the weather conditions predicted for the intended journey; the nature of the intended journey; the design and capacity of the vehicle on which the containers are to be transported.
