Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This instrument updates rules for the West Coast Demersal Gillnet and Demersal Longline Interim Managed Fishery, replacing older exemption conditions with simpler requirements that expire 31 August 2012. It affects commercial fishers in that WA fishery and anyone buying or selling its catch. It preserves an EPBC Act exemption from individual federal permits provided catches are lawful under WA law, and the sunset forces a future federal–state decision on the arrangement.
