Plain English Summary

4/10 complexity

This updates export rules for fish and sea creatures from the Queensland River and Inshore (Beam) Trawl Fishery, replacing the 2006 conditions with a requirement that exported specimens be caught lawfully under Queensland law and that the fishery hold formal Commonwealth approval as an “approved wildlife trade operation” under the EPBC Act. It affects commercial fishers and exporters of non‑threatened species and strengthens environmental oversight by tying export eligibility to national sustainability approval.
