This instrument temporarily downgrades a defined area about 30 nm northwest of Melbourne from Class C to Class G between 4,500 and 5,500 ft ASL, removing ATC clearance and radio requirements for glider operations. It enables glider competitions or training that otherwise couldn’t occur in controlled airspace, and takes effect 23 Feb 2007 until 30 Jun 2007, when Class C is restored.
