Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What it does: These regulations scrap (repeal) the old Air Navigation (Checked Baggage) Regulations 2000.

Who it affects: Airlines, airport operators, and travellers. The 2000 regulations set specific rules about checked luggage on flights, so removing them means those particular rules no longer apply.

Why it matters: This is a housekeeping measure to clean up Australia's aviation laws. By removing the 2000 regulations, the government eliminates outdated or redundant baggage rules. Airlines and airports will still need to follow other aviation safety laws and general consumer protection rules about luggage, but these specific 2000-era regulations are gone.
