Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This regulation repeals the 1957 Air Force (Canteens) Regulations and transfers control of Air Force canteens to a joint services body.

What it does:

Abolishes the separate rules governing Royal Australian Air Force canteens, effective 1 July 1959.
Transfers all assets, money, and debts from the old Air Force Canteens Service Board to the Australian Services Canteens Organization Board of Management (which runs canteens for all armed services under different regulations).
Protects trust funds – any money held by trustee committees under the old rules must still be used for its original purpose, but only as approved by the Minister for Air.

Why it matters: This is an administrative consolidation that folds Air Force canteens into a unified defence canteen system, eliminating duplicate management structures while ensuring existing trust obligations are honoured.
