Tasmania regulation
These regulations (effective 5 November 2024) make two legal clarifications for Tasmania's chemical-regulation framework. They declare the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Control of Use) Act 1995 to count as an ‘eligible law’ for the Agvet Code’s permit definition, and confirm the Poisons Act 1971 applies despite the Agvet Code. Mechanically, businesses and users of agricultural or veterinary chemicals must seek and comply with permits under the recognised 1995 Act and follow the Poisons Act where it takes precedence; Tasmanian regulators decide permits and enforce compliance.
