Tasmania regulation
This Order makes it a criminal offence to handle a "hormonal growth promotant" by implanting it in cattle, with a maximum fine of 200 penalty units. It defines the prohibited product as veterinary substances with oestrogenic, androgenic or gestagenic activity used to enhance growth in bovines or bubalines. The Order takes effect when gazetted, rescinds the 1998 hormonal growth promotants Order, and is administered by the Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment. Practically, people who implant these products face fines and must stop that specific practice.
