20Acting Board members

#### 20 Acting Board members Acting as the Chair (1) The Minister may, by written instrument, appoint an appointed Board member to act as the Chair: (a) during a vacancy in the office of Chair, whether or not an appointment has previously been made to the office; or (b) during any period, or during all periods, when the Chair: (i) is absent from duty or from Australia; or (ii) is, for any reason, unable to perform the duties of the office. > Note: For rules that apply to acting appointments, see sections 33AB and 33A of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901. Acting as an appointed Board member (except the Chair) (2) The Minister may, by written instrument, appoint a person to act as an appointed Board member (except the Chair): (a) during a vacancy in the office of an appointed Board member (except the Chair), whether or not an appointment has previously been made to the office; or (b) during any period, or during all periods, when an appointed Board member (except the Chair): (i) is absent from duty or from Australia; or (ii) is, for any reason, unable to perform the duties of the office. > Note: For rules that apply to acting appointments, see sections 33AB and 33A of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901. (3) A person is not eligible for appointment under subsection (2) unless the Minister is satisfied that the person has appropriate qualifications, skills or experience in one or more of the fields referred to in subsection 18(2).
