51 Minister may approve countries for adoption purposes (1) Where the Minister is satisfied that proceedings for adoption in an overseas country are fair, the Minister may, by notice in the Gazette, determine that an adoption of a child in that country, in accordance with the law of that country, shall so long as it remains in force under that law, have the same effect (and no other effect) as an adoption made in a State or another Territory of the Commonwealth has under section 49, and such an adoption shall have that effect. (2) The approval of the Minister referred to in subsection (1) may be subject to such terms and conditions as the Minister thinks fit. (3) A decision of the Minister whether to approve an overseas country for the purposes of subsection (1) is not reviewable.
