#### 183 Presenting forged consent or other document 183 Presenting forged consent or other document (cf AC Act s 56) > > (1) A person is guilty of an offence if he or she presents, or causes to be presented, to the Court in connection with an application for an order for the adoption, or recognition of the adoption, of a child under this Act a document— > > > > > (a) purporting to be an adoption document that the person knows is forged, or > > > > > (b) that bears any signature or certification that was obtained by fraud or duress. > > > > Maximum penalty—25 penalty units or imprisonment for 12 months, or both. > > > (2) In this section— > > > > adoption document means— > > > > > (a) an instrument of consent, or revocation of consent, to an adoption, or > > > > > (b) an adoption compliance certificate, or > > > > > (c) an order for the adoption of a child made outside Australia.
