#### 181 False statements 181 False statements (cf AC Act s 54, AI Act s 38) > A person who makes any statement (whether orally or in writing) that the person knows to be false for the purposes of or in connection with— > > > (a) a proposed adoption or any other matter under this Act, or > > > (b) an application for the supply of adoption information or an authority to supply adoption information under Chapter 8, or > > > (c) the lodging of a contact veto under Chapter 8, or > > > (d) an application for entry of the person’s name in the Reunion and Information Register under Chapter 8, or > > > (e) any other request under this Act, > > is guilty of an offence. > > Maximum penalty—25 penalty units or imprisonment for 12 months, or both.
