#### 155 Contact veto may be lodged only for adoptions before Adoption Information Act 1990 155 Contact veto may be lodged only for adoptions before [Adoption Information Act 1990](/view/html/repealed/current/act-1990-063) (cf AI Act s 17) > A person may lodge a contact veto only if— > > > (a) the order for adoption of the adopted person was made under the [Adoption of Children Act 1965](/view/html/repealed/current/act-1965-023) (or a former Act within the meaning of that Act) before the date of assent to the [Adoption Information Act 1990](/view/html/repealed/current/act-1990-063), or > > > (b) the adoption of the adopted person in another State or in a country outside Australia was recognised under the [Adoption of Children Act 1965](/view/html/repealed/current/act-1965-023) as having been effected before the date of assent to the [Adoption Information Act 1990](/view/html/repealed/current/act-1990-063). > > Note— > > The date of assent to the [Adoption Information Act 1990](/view/html/repealed/current/act-1990-063) was 26 October 1990.
